Muslim civilisation: the pioneers of Science and Technology

March 5th, 2010

1001 Inventions promotes an accurate understanding of the exceptional advances in science, technology and culture made by Muslim civilisation during the 1000+ years labelled The Dark Ages by Western tradition. Discoveries made from the 7th to 17th centuries by multi-…faith scientists in Muslim civilisation have had a huge but hidden influence on the modern world. Knowledge from Assyrian, Babylonian, Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, Indian, Persian and Roman civilisations was highly prized in the Muslim world. Men and women scholars advanced science by building upon the ancients and making breakthroughs that paved the way for the European Renaissance. What can I do with a Science Technology and Society degree?

March 5th, 2010

I was wondering what this area of studies involves and what sorts of jobs you can get with this degree. Thanks =]

You can get exactly the same jobs as if you didn’t have it. Stuff like stacking supermarket shelves, flipping burgers, traffic warden, etc.

Degrees with titles like that are worthless. The only reason colleges provide them is to make money from the tuition fees from kids who are dumb enough to apply for them, and to improve their position in the results league tables because nobody will ever fail the course.
