I am a white pastor of a church and dont want to seem racist but the thought of her with anyone but a white man disgusts me……….am i wrong to feel this way……….

And as mentioned above, yes, you’ve got a racist attitude ingrained in you and yes that’s obviously wrong. Now that you’ve acknowledged the problem, hopefully you’ll begin to see things more rationally, though; race should make no difference, the only difference is pigment in the skin, essentially. Nothing wrong with interracial relationships.

I do not agree with what you are saying, however, I understand what you mean. I am Indian and my parents are the same way. It is just the traditional way of thinking, which is unfortunately racist. When my parents or you think of these other cultures, you are probably thinking about the stereotype that group has. Stereotypes are not true for EVERYONE. You will find different types of people in different cultures. There is no point in forbading your daughter to date these men, because evantually she will make her own choice. Rather, maybe she should tell her what type or quality of guy she should look for. I think that is more important. My parents also encourage me to date only Indian girls, but I dont care, as long as there is a connection.

I’m Mennonite myself (not the black hat kind), so I know where you are coming from, you don’t want to be racist, but hate the idea of her getting mixed up with all of the things that go with interracial dating. I don’t hate blacks or mexicans, they are people created by God. I just hate the way they act and present themselves. Not all of them act that way, but the majority who do, give a bad name to all of them and you don’t want your daughter into all that. I have a cousin and a niece who both wanted to go against all that and go out with black men. Now, they both have babies with no father around. Neither of them can find a man, because they are bent on finding a black man. Every one they find turns out to be on drugs and won’t work, it’s the same story over and over again. I would sit down and talk with your daughter about it and explain the reasons. Black men in general treat black women poorly so your daughter is safe til the sexual smoke clears. You cant do anything about it. Tell her to find some black women to talk to. You know it makes me sad how people are answering you. The fact is. You are not perfect. But the fact of you being disgusted just because of a mans race is wrong. What you should be looking for is, Is he following bible principles. Does this person show insight into the scriptures? It is not just about going to church every sunday. How does this person live their life. Does it show the spirit of the world or does it show that he wants to live by Godly devotion. If your daughter does have interest in a man other then a man who is white. Let her bring him to you. spend time with him. see if he meets your idea of what a husband for your daughter should be. How does he treat his friends? His family? His mother and father? Who are his friends? Look for good traits. After all. The man in question should be seeking your daughter thru you. Is he doing that?

To say that it "disgusts" you denotes that you feel you, as a white person, are in some way superior to blacks and Hispanics. But we are all equal and equally loved in the eyes of God. You can "forbid" all you want, but chances are when she gets older she will only rebel and you will probably end up pushing her right into an interracial relationship. Rest assured, your daughter will date whomever she pleases, with or with out your approval. And what if the right man for her really does just happen to have a different skin tone?
