    @mohanaturo

    List …
    @mohanaturo

List the studies? The closest I can find is that a few relatively unknown Chinese researchers did a sloppy paper that indicates dilution has the opposite effect predicted by Homeopathy wrote the paper while working for a group that Montagnier holds an honorary seat on the board of. His name is not on the paper nor did he oversee the work, and the results do not lend credence to Homeopathy. The Von Euler claim is ludicrous, What study did Josephson do related to Homeopathy?

  2. TheRealAndrewJackson says:

    Homeopathy is a …
Homeopathy is a multi-billion dollar industry, I think they enough money for funding.

  3. mohanaturo says:

    5 META ANALYSES …
5 META ANALYSES showing positive results on Homeopathy:

    1. Cucherat et al 2000* 16 Hi-Quality studies – POSITIVE.
    2. Linde & Melchart 1998* 32 Hi-Quality studies – POSITIVE.

  4. Kingfillins says:

    Research who was …
Research who was behind this circus.

My reaction was pretty much the same as the guy in the background at 4:03

“To the best of my …
“To the best of my knowledge, there remains no refutations of Homeopathy that remain valid……”

    Brian Josephson
    Nobel Laureate Scientist
    (Physics – 1973)

  7. Intiom says:

    How would your …
How would your little economic conspiracy theory affect the medical trials of whether or not homeopathy works?

Wouldn’t the results speak for themselves?

How confident are you in homeopathy if you have to resort to a ‘Big Pharma’ conspiracy to justify the lack of results?

  8. hadr0n says:

    Bullshit! The …
Bullshit! The homeopathics industry (with it’s huge margins) has more than enough money to fund phase 1 & 2 clinical trials. They won’t pay for phase 3 trials because IT DOESN’T WORK! IT’S WATER! OR LITTLE SUGAR PILLS!

And you can’t patent water, or sugar/lactose pills, there’s prior art! :)

  9. dadominate says:

    what the skeptics …
what the skeptics don’t realize is that this all comes down to FUNDING of research. pharmaceutical research is readily funded by nih and other governmental bodies and deeply-lined industry pockets. homeopathic remedies have no such luxury.

further, since homeopathic remedies are not patentable, there is no financial motivation for companies to fund expensive trials.

this is as much of an economic problem as it is a scientific issue.

  10. mohanaturo says:

    3 Nobel Laureate …
3 Nobel Laureate scientists have done studies on high dilutions( similar to Homeopathic) and have proven their effects.

    1. Hans Von Euler –
    Nobel Laureate Chemistry 1929

    2. Brian David Josephson –
    Nobel Laureate Physics 1973

    3. Luc Montagnier –
Nobel Laureate Physiology & Medicine 2009

  11. hinkyponky says:

    Absolutely – proof …
Absolutely – proof is all it’s about – and there isn’t any that holds up to scrutiny

  12. menfearthought says:

    Failed on the first …
Failed on the first question, lol

  13. SkepRob says:

    beingmusicandaudio …
beingmusicandaudio says skeptics can not be convinced of the validity of homeopathy.

Proof would do it. Proper proof has not been provided.

The positive trials quoted by to mouthpiece in this video are seriously flawed.

Homeopathy – there is nothing in it.

  14. beingmusicandaudio says:

    Trying to convince …
Trying to convince those types who claim homeopathy’s uselessness of its validity is like attempting to turn on a light with a dead battery – the dead battery being the so called scientists here and the light life itself. So just leave the skeptics to their own devices, there are plenty who are open to what homeopathy offers those who care to embrace it.

  15. hadr0n says:

    “Then tell me what …
“Then tell me what is scientific evidence”

Tangible, or Inducible data that can be expressed quantitaively to form part of an empirical model.

“Isnt it an ever changing phenomonen?”

Yes. Well done for recognising science’s greatest strength.

    “Do we know everything today?”

To paraphrase Dara’O'Briain: Science knows it doesn’t know everything… otherwise, it would stop!

  16. olavius2 says:

    @hadr0n Then tell …
@hadr0n Then tell me what is scientific evidence? Isnt it an ever changing phenomonen? Do we know everything today?

  17. olavius2 says:

    People seeking …
People seeking homoepathic treatment are taxpayers too.

So instead of seeking to reduce the tiny amount spent on homeopathy it would be fair to increase this amount in big numbers instead.

  18. hadr0n says:

    You may be right, …
You may be right, but I still think there’s hope for people who believe in pseudoscience, given enough time. 10 years ago I might have been taken in by homeopathy myself.

  19. Joe22c says:

    Hadr0n,

    Olavius2 …
    Hadr0n,

Olavius2 is quite firmly held in his delusions.

However, as his statements are quite revealing of the idiocy of pro-homeopathy “arguments” I would simply choose to ignore him at this point.

I suppose what’s irritating is that homeopathy defenders seem to oscillate between, “BUT THERE IS EVIDENCE FOR HOMEOPATHY!” and “WE DON’T NEED EVIDENCE TO KNOW IT WORKS!”

At any rate, olavius belongs to a cult of delusion and idiocy so great no amount of logic can ever penetrate.

  20. hadr0n says:

    Also, regarding …
Also, regarding Darwin’s views of homeopathy – Darwin did (reluctantly) recieve homeopathic treatment from his friend Dr Gully (on account of his famous hypochondria), he belived it to be deeply unscientific and compared it to clairvoyance, which has equal scientfic validity (i.e. none).

However, by invoking Darwin to try an give sway to an argument you demonstrate a fundamental ignorance of the modern scientific method.

  21. hadr0n says:

    No. As I have …
No. As I have explained – By carrying out this experiment you will only demonstrate that the design is flawed any you haven’t got a clue about science or homeopathy.

  22. olavius2 says:

    I believe what I …
I believe what I see with my own eyes.

And so will anybody else, so for the last time – try the experiment yourself. You will see – that the homeopathic remedy is not just placebo as claimed.

  23. hadr0n says:

    “I am just saying …
“I am just saying that the critics are asking for higher standards for homeopathic medicine than for conventional medicine. That is what is called double standard.”

Nope. We want the same standard of evidence for all medicine. It is the homeopaths who are asking for special treatment. Using the excuse that they (a multi $billion global industry) can’t afford to run their own clinical trials is pathetic. The truth is, the trials have been done, and homeopathy has failed utterly.

  24. hadr0n says:

    “Personally, I dont …
“Personally, I dont give much for so called scientific evidence”

Don’t expect to be taken seriously in a debate about evidence based medicne then.

“By the way millions of people arround the world uses homeopathy every day”

Millions of people drink their own every day thinking that it’s a panacea too. It’s not.

  25. hadr0n says:

    “Is it not true …
“Is it not true that a high percentage of medicine used by allopathic doctors doesn’t have so called scientific evidence for its efficiency?”

It is in fact NOT true, no matter what you wish to believe it is the exeption rather than the rule.

Even though it does sometimes happen in ‘allopathic medicine’ (i.e. ‘medicine’), the solution is NOT replacing the drugs that don’t work very well, with sugar pills that do not work at all (beyond placebo)!
