This is part 3 of the author’s perspective on the series Why Black Men Are Dating Other Races. This video was made to explain the author’s purpose in doing the series and clear up the general misconception of general issues raised in the previous 5 parts of the series.
Interracial dating is defined as marriage or sexual relations between individuals of different races.
According to the U.S. Census, in 2000 there were 1,432,908 Hispanic Origin-white marriages.[18] , 504,119 Asian-white marriages, 287,576 black-white marriages, 97,822 Hispanic Origin-black marriages, 40,317 Asian-Hispanic Origin[19] marriages, and 31,271 Asian-black marriages.
Today the vast majority of African-Americans possess varying degrees of European and Native American admixture; some estimates put average African-American possession of European admixture at 25% with figures as high as 50% in the Northeast and less than 10% in the south. A recent study by Mark D. Shriver of a European-American sample found that the average admixture in the white population is 0.7% African and 3.2% Native American. However, 70% of the sample had no African admixture. The other 30% had African admixture ranging from 2% to 20% with an average of 2.3%. By extrapolating these figures to the whole population some scholars suggest that up to 74 million European-Americans may have African admixture in the same range (2-20%)

I am a white woman …
I am a white woman and I date inside and outside my race. I do prefer black men and what many don’t understand is how many unnecessary comments and fights I have gotten into because of black women’s attitudes toward this. It is horrible that in 2009, I cannot go to the movies with my black boyfriend without getting some ignorant comment. If black women as a whole are tired of the stereotype that surrounds them then please change it! The hurt goes both ways! Remember that!

I liked your vids & I agree with alot of what you said. I am a black female from Jamaica now living in Canada and I admit that it used to be hurtful to me to see interracial couples as I had never really had to deal with that growing up in a predominantly black island. Now I feel that ppl have the right & should be able to love/date who they want, I have accepted interracial dating & also accept that black women do have a lot of work to do & black ppl need to deal with each other better.

continued: It shouldnt be excused because he was eased by black women, or because black women are so aggressive or angry or because black women are uninhibited or whatever reason that gets pulled out the hat. Whenever there is a mutual attraction, whatever their race or color its a go for me. My point is, lets not be fearful of the backlash of dating outside our race and therefore make excuses. Just do it!

The series is riveting. From black woman to black man, continue to do things like this. It scares me to know that you were attacked by black women. Clearly this series exposed all sides of the fence and was very objective to me. Personally I can relate to the reasons black males choose to be with white women and why black woman are enraged about it. However its not a matter of reason to me. Simply put, if a black man wants to date or prefers white women, so be it!

Great great series. At the end of the day every man and woman wants to know that someone respects them enough to listen to what we had to say. And whether agreeing or disagreeing, that we are valued. The dialogue that comes from that listening will be the path to healing. Kudos for taking the time to put this out there.

It’s such a cycle. Girls & boys need fathers growing up. In this case of the Black community, Blackboys don’t learn how 2be real men without their fathers. Yes, a mother can fill part of that role, but not as good as a man who has himself DOWN proper. W/o fathers, black girls grow up to be women who go after thugs, or a man who is like an authoritative figure who will beat you if u step outta line. Or they look 4 older men who’ll pamper them like a father, leaving out the younger, good brothers.
