have a buddy who’s Hispanic and he’s dating a white woman. Great couple.
But he’s told me that they often get a bunch of rude stares when out in public, specifically from Hispanic girls. He says they stare at him and his girlfriend with a disbelief "what the hell am I seeing" look. On a couple of occasions they have even heard a few rude remarks–one time when they went out to dinner, they were seated at a table in front of a couple of Hispanic women and he just had the feeling they were whispering about them. He said he could have sworn he heard one of them say something like very nasty about his girlfriend. That made him angry and he just leaned forward and kissed his girlfriend passionately. Needless to say, that shut them up lol.
So does anyone know why this is? Maybe my friend and his gf just have bad luck to be surrounded by such people? They live in San Antonio and there are lots of Hispanics there and he says that some Hispanics tend to be very conservative when it comes to dating and such. Could that be a factor?
First of all,I’m Irish & my boyfiend is puire Aztec Indian (Mexica).He considers himself Mexican but not hispanic at all.He has no Spanish Ansestry.I do not have this problem at all.In fact,Most of the Mexican women think it cool that I have a Mexican boyfriend.(They see it as you like us or amigas.)We live in Pennslyvania & Mexicans are visible minority all over our state.(You would see the most in Philedelphia or all over Chester County. anyhow,I choose to date Mexican men.BTw there are some White Mexicans like Julietta Venegas. I even went To Mexico in may & was dating mexican men & it was not a problem there.I have dated many Mexican men & not run into problems. Remeber Hispanic is not a race but a group of spanish speakers,for example there are many black people in Columbia,Cuba & Panama.
if your friend is happy with his girlfriend, then he shouldn’t be too concerned about what other people say.

Usually because these women are thinking that to your friend, an hispanic woman isn’t good enough for him. This actually happens with many other races as well, not just hispanics.

Not entirely true as Hispanic women also date inter racially, but some Hispanics are more sensitive about it than others. I’ve been called a "Malinche" once or twice for being Mexican and marrying a Latin European, but the hell if I care, as long as I’m happy.
I also don’t openly flaunt my marriage and most people don’t know until they meet him that he’s not Mexican.

I’m sorry dude but I think your friend is delirious or paranoid. One of the two. Hispanic women have no reason to be jealous if they see a couple of Hispanics with women of other races, especially when they can get other guys and guys of other races as well. They were probably whispering because they were wondering why he was staring at them and trying to see if they were going to look. He needs to keep his eyes on his girlfriend, stop guilt-tripping, and he’ll have a much better life.

Actually, this "situation" is not restricted to one particular racial group. The same thing occurs with blacks, asians, etc. The issue at hand is self-image and self-confidence, not of the mixed couple, but of the people that is showing anger. These angry people probably feel that the mixed couple implies that they are not "good enough". An understandable reaction, but it is wrong, of course.

Generally, Hispanics are very proud of their culture, and stay in touch with it. Most of the Hispanics I know date other Hispanics exclusively.
Those Hispanic girls were probably jealous because let’s face it, White girls get waaaay too much attention…I’m Dominican, and even I have to admit it.
